We’re remodeling and I’ll be honest, I think Mel and I have argued more during the past few weeks than we have in years. We both work full time, and once we get home we are pulling out carpet, or moving boxes and furniture. The weekends are the same.

I never realized how stressful a situation like this could be.

Late last week, after the kids were in bed, and Mel and I had been arguing off and on most of the evening, I realized I couldn’t remember the last time we kissed. There’s something about stressful times that can make two people not look at each other, let alone touch. And although I didn’t really want to in that moment, and I doubt Mel did as well, I approached her in the kitchen and said, “Can I kiss you?”
