The other day I was driving Tristan and Norah to school. It was early. Just after 6am. It was still dark. And without prompting, and without any warning, Norah broke the silence by saying, “Dad, I just love you.”

She was in the front seat. I was half awake, which is typical when driving my kids two towns over to get them to school. I looked over at her, and she was beaming.
