The Simple Warmth of a Drive in the Snow
It was Saturday morning. I got up around 7am and for reasons I cannot explain, and all three of my kid were up watching TV. I’ll admit, I was shook. Usually I have an hour or two to myself on a Saturday morning. Although, my guess was, it had something to do with the snow.
It snowed all night, and considering we live in rural Oregon, not far from the coast, this was unusual. We get one, maybe two, snow skiffs a year. So for us to end up with 6 or so inches was a big deal, and while the tv was on, the kids seemed to regularly be looking out the window.
Anyway, the moment I stepped into the kitchen, the kids asked if we could go get doughnuts, and naturally, the last thing I wanted to do was go out into the snow, warm up the car, and drive across town. But as kids do, they wouldn’t drop it…
