Mel and I were on a cruise through Mexico. It was just the two of us sitting on a lower deck, in lounge chairs, watching the sunset. And like any good middle age couple might do, we were complaining. Not about our kids, or the view, but the noise.
“Why is there party music everywhere on this boat?” I asked. Mel exhaled, and said, “yes! It’s super irritating.” We moved on to the irritating dunks on our earlier excursion to a relaxing beach.”
“Everyone seems to be here to party,” I said. Then I said the most middle age statement of my life. “I just want some peace and quiet.”
