How Many Siblings Do You Have? It's Complicated...

We were driving to the grocery store when son asked me how many siblings I have, which seems like something he should already know considering he’s 16, along with a question that would be easy for me to answer, but it wasn’t.

My father died divorcing his fourth wife, while my mother is on her third marriage. I’d explained that to him before, but to be honest, I don’t think I’d ever actually sat down and counted all the half’s and steps I picked up as a child. It wasn’t exactly complicated math, but it surly didn’t come easy. I listed off marriages, and children, and how long one marriage lasted. I strained my memory, and used all my fingers and toes, and as I spoke, I’m 90% sure Tristan went cross eyed.
