Dad, You Always Get Mom Flowers. It’s Kinda Boring

It was Valentine’s Day. I took Norah to the store with me to get flowers for Mel. It’s something I’ve done with all my kids over the years. I ask them to help me pick out the flowers. We always discuss how much we love mom as we look through the bouquets and try to find the right mix of roses for her.

But this year, as we entered the store, Norah said “dad, you always get mom flowers on Valentine’s Day. It’s kinda boring.” Naturally, I tried to defend myself. I mentioned how flowers are great for Valentine’s Day, and how it shows that I loved my wife, but then I realized, she was right.
