But What About Saying Something Good?
Sunday nights we have a family meeting. We all gather around the table, just the five of us, and discuss the schedule for the week. We have a gospel lesson. The kids take turns teaching it. Near the end, right before we have a treat, we always go around the table and say something good a family member did for us that week.
And I’ll be honest, we arranged this last activity to encourage a sense of gratitude between family members. But wow my friends, it’s always a little hit or miss. Sometimes one kids refuses to participate, or another feels shafted because something they did wasn’t noticed. If I were to put this into an average, I’d say at least once a month the kids end up in a passive aggressive argument at the end of sharing what someone did for us that week.
Why is it like this? Who knows.
