Anime For The Daddy Daughter Win
It was Sunday night and my 13yo daughter, Norah wanted to watch a movie with me, and naturally it was anime. I’ve been watching a lot of anime recently, and not because I’m big on it.
Honestly I’m not.
I mean, don’t get me wrong. There are some anime movies and shows that I’ve watched with Norah and enjoyed, but most of the time, I have more questions than I do answers. And ultimately that’s what it looks like when Norah and I watch anime. It’s me, a 40yo father of three, in gym shorts and an old T-shirt, Best PAPA slippers on his feet, sitting next to his 13yo daughter, asking why the pig has a ghost in it, or why the fish has a woman’s face, or what it means to be an earth bender.
And it looks like Norah giggling in blue framed glasses, brown bangs across her forehead, in red flair bottom pants, and a sweater, leaning into my side and answering my questions.
I learn a lot, and she gets to be the teacher for once, which is probably the best part.
